Help. Advice?

Yesterday was the worst ever. Wait, i'm allowed a day to whine right?
I'm tired of sitting around feeling anxious, sick, and unable to do anything so i'm posting this to ask for help.

I suffer from ridiculous migranes and the past two days have been horrible. The first thing that happens before the pain is I get tunnel vision, see black specs, start to shake, and I have a hard time talking. Usually people can understand me enough to figure out what i'm saying, but last night my husband said he had no idea. As soon as those happen, I immediately take medicine but it didn't stop it from the headache coming on. I've tried so many different kinds but nothing seems to help. Mine have lasted three days before, so that's three days that i'm useless. I've tried cold towels on my head and eyes, being in the pitch dark, pressure points, hot baths, and caffeine. Ugh nothing seems to ease it. Sleep is the only thing that helps, but going to sleep takes forever and once you wake up the pain is there waiting for you. The absolute worst thing do do while your head is pounding is to cry, but when you're in so much pain is hard not to, ya know? I couldn't walk or do anything by myself so I had to rely on my poor husband. He was up with me off and on all night last night and he had to be at work early this morning. He takes such good care of me.

I now regret typing this and staring at the screen this long but I need help :( Please excuse any grammar errors, i'm not even going to re read this.
What do you do when you've got a killer headache? Silly home remedies are welcome!!

  1. aww sorry to hear that :(

I get migraines every few weeks too, but they definitely don't sound as severe as yours. I pretty much always take my fioricet and then go to sleep, and when I wake up...they're better. Hope you find something to help!

  2. I have had to go to the ER because of the severity of my migraines. I usually use maximum strength EXCEDRIN MIGRAINE medication and take 2 pills at a time with a bunch of water. I put myself to bed and close my eyes till the migraine is gone.

  3. If nothing works you should really go to the doctor for some exams. You have nothing to lose just to go and check that everything it's ok with you:)

  4. Oh goodness, those sound awful! My boyfriends Mum suffers from bad migraines, she has had to go to hospital before. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? I am sorry that you suffer with them so badly. I occassionally get them if I have spent too much time on the computer but that is about it. You mention caffeine, I guess you been cutting it out of your diet completely? I have read that caffeine (including chocolate and fizzy drinks) and alcohol are major causes.

You have a great blog by the way and you are incredibly beautiful!! I wish you lots of luck with it and will definitly come back to read more of your posts! You write so well!

    All the best,
    Voe.

Nothing seems to work on me, no amount of medication/painkillers i take have helped. As you said, sleep is the only cure, for a short while anyway..

Hope you feel better :) xox

  7. Awww this makes me sad :( I'm so sorry that you've been going through this! I have suffered from migraines for the past 7 years, but they've gotten more manageable. Here are some of my suggestions.

    1. You might want to ask your doctor to write you a referral to a headache specialist. If you get migraines frequently, or for multiple days at a time, it's not a bad idea to see someone who specializes in the field so that they can help you fight this problem more aggressively than a normal physician.

    2. Try staying away from sugar & carbohydrates. A lot of times they can trigger an inflammatory response in the body. Focus on eating protein and vegetables.

    3. Drink a ton of water and herbal tea. When I have a migraine, I like to drink mint tea plain, or lemon ginger tea with a little bit of honey

    4. Rub lavender or mint essential oil on your temples.

I hope that you are able to find some relief!! MademoiselleMichael

  8. Thankyou. I love your pictures, you are really beautiful!
Sucks about the migraines :( I take tablets everyday to prevent me getting them, i don't think they really work though. Have you tried the migra-cap? LOL, it sounds stupid but it's basically a hat with cold gel packs all around it which is supposed to help. I have one, it's pretty good when you wear it AND take painkillers.. xx
